Job Summary:

Under general direction, performs advanced and professional work which supports the operation and data integrity of the Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) systems for electric and water. Manages metering data flows, ensures accurate and timely delivery of usage data, and collaborates with internal teams to improve system performance, customer service, and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

AMI Business Intelligence (BI) Administrator

• Develops and maintains reports, dashboards and data analytics to support billing accuracy, consumption insights, and customer service.

• Monitors the collection and daily imports of interval and register reads.

• Coordinates with the Billing and Meter Services departments to verify and resolve data issues.

• Monitors and ensures timely and accurate transfer of AMI reading data to the Customer Information System (CIS) billing module.

• Completes other job duties as assigned.

Senior AMI Business Intelligence (BI) Administrator (in addition to the duties listed above)

• May provide guidance and training to department staff.

• Interprets large datasets to identify usage patterns, data integrity issues, and impacts on billing or field operations.

• May serve as a lead on small projects with low risks and resource requirements.

Lead AMI Business Intelligence (BI) Administrator (in addition to all the duties listed above)

• Provides leadership, guidance, work assignments, training, and occasional supervision to less experienced staff.

• Serves as the subject matter expert (SME) on all audits and design reviews for improvement or upgrade projects.

• Identifies opportunities for applying the AMI and automation capabilities to add value to the business and operations.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of operational characteristics of a variety of computer platforms, networking systems, software applications, and operating systems.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Power BI or similar.
  • Knowledge of cloud environments.
  • Experience with both electric and water metering systems.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Interpersonal skills to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies.
  • Problem solving skills.
  • Scripting/programming skills (e.g., Python, Power Shell) for process automation and data transformation.
  • Ability to recognize the risks and dangers in the work environment.
  • Ability to work during declared emergency situations.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends in response to needs of the systems being supported.
Education & Experience Requirements

AMI Business Intelligence (BI) Administrator

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in Computer Science/Information Technology, Data Analytics, Business Administration, or a related field AND three (3) years of experience, working in an information technology field or related area.

Senior AMI Business Intelligence (BI) Administrator

One (1) additional year of relevant work experience is required.

Lead AMI Business Intelligence (BI) Administrator

Two (2) additional years of progressively responsible work experience are required.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Requires a valid Texas Driver License or receipt of a valid Texas Driver License within 90 days of relocation to Texas and a safe driving record, as measured by company policy.

Senior AMI Business Intelligence (BI) Administrator (in addition to requirements listed above)

Requires at least one (1) of the following:

  • CompTIA Data Sys+
  • Oracle Database SQL Certified Associate (OCA)

Lead AMI Business Intelligence (BI) Administrator (in addition to all requirements listed above)

Requires the following certifications:

  • Microsoft Certified:
    Power BI Data Analyst Associate
  • PCAP – Certified Associate Python Programming
