Job Summary
This role provides direct clinical patient care. The role will assume responsibility for assessing, planning, implementing direct clinical care to assigned patients on a per shift basis, and unit level. The role is responsible for supervision of staff to which appropriate care is delegated. The role is accountable to support CNO to ensure high quality, safe and appropriate nursing care, competency of clinical staff, and appropriate resource management related to patient care.
The RN provides high-quality, safe, cost-effective, total nursing care to all patients. The RN assumes responsibility for overall coordination and integration of patient care based on the nursing process. The RN directs care according to established standards of safety, risk management, QI, and Infection Control, with the goal being to discharge the patient with an optimum level of care provided. Assumes responsibility for coordination and planning of patient care within the prescribed medical regime.
Administers all medications safely and in a timely manner per hospital policy. Performs and fulfills all HICS (hospital incident command system) responsibilities, assignments, tasks, and roles as directed and needed by the facility in times of emergency and/or disaster. Responsible for knowing the Hospital s emergency codes, including the purpose and appropriate action for each, and adheres to the Hospital policies and procedures for each emergency code.
- Provide direct clinical patient care and supervise staff to whom care is delegated.
- Assess, plan, and implement direct clinical care for assigned patients on a per shift basis and at the unit level.
- Support the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) to ensure high quality, safe, and appropriate nursing care, staff competency, and resource management related to patient care.
- Coordinate and integrate patient care based on the nursing process; discharge planning with optimum care.
- Administer medications safely and in a timely manner per hospital policy.
- Adhere to standards of safety, risk management, quality improvement (QI), and Infection Control.
- Fulfill Hospital Incident Command System (HICS) responsibilities and codes during emergencies.
- Know the Hospital emergency codes and follow policies for each code.
- Required:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. - Preferred:
Bachelor s or Master s degree in Nursing
- Preferred:
Recent acute care experience.
- Required:
Currently licensed, certified, or registered to practice as required by law, regulation in state of practice or policy; AHA BLS, and if applicable by corporate policy for unit of hire AHA - BLS - At hire or obtain within 5 working days before assuming patient care (2 year renewal)
- ACLS - At hire or obtain within 60 days of hire/transfer (2 year renewal)
- NRP - At hire or obtain within 6 months of hire/transfer (2 year renewal)
- Basic Fetal - At hire or obtain within 30 days of hire/transfer (2 year renewal)
- Intermediate Fetal - At hire or obtain within 9 months of hire/transfer, lifetime cert. (Annual CEUs only)
