Responsibilities
Receive and follow schedule/instructions from your supervisor as outlined in our established policies and procedures. Adhere to the facility’s policies and procedures where you are assigned. Perform focused interviews to identify patients’ needs and assess signs and symptoms indicating physiologic and psychosocial changes. Collect, analyze, and interpret data and information from health‑care members and document actual and/or potential diagnoses. Plan outcomes of care for assigned patients and perform interventions according to identified priorities, the plan of care, and the hospital’s patient‑care outcome standards.
Adhere to emergency, safety, and infection‑control procedures at your assigned facility. Promote and participate in activities that facilitate good interpersonal communication. Report changes in a patient’s respiratory status to the Director/Supervisor of Respiratory Care Services, the nurse primarily responsible for the patient, and the physician as needed, and prior to leaving the facility. Develop and maintain a good working rapport with inter‑department personnel and other departments within the facility.
Refrain from disclosing residents’ protected health information and promptly report suspected or known violations to the Administrator. Assume the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability of performing the assigned duties of this position. Maintain confidentiality of all resident care information, including protected health information, and report known or suspected incidents of unauthorized disclosure of such information.
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications- Education:
Minimum Associate Degree from an accredited school and graduation from a respiratory care program;
Bachelor of Science in a health‑care field preferred. - Experience:
Minimum of one (1) year of respiratory care experience in an acute and/or subacute unit preferred. - Language
Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations; ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals; ability to present information effectively and respond to questions from managers and employees. - Mathematical
Skills:
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. - Reasoning
Skills:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; ability to interpret instructions in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule form. - Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Current Respiratory Care Practitioner verification license for the state in which you practice (if applicable); current CPR/BLS and ACLS certifications; knowledge of office machines and equipment.
Physical demands are representative of those required to perform essential functions. Reasonable accommodations may be made for disabilities. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds, use a desktop or laptop computer for prolonged periods, and regularly sit, stand, walk, talk, read, or hear. Frequent use of office equipment—copier/scanner/fax, telephone, and calculator—is required. Assistance in evacuating residents during emergencies may also be necessary.
