Under general direction, responsible for the engineering, coordination, administration and project management of electric utility projects including residential, commercial and industrial new developments and BPUB Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) projects.
Graduate Electrical Engineer Range: $65,977 – $84,427 Annually
Senior Graduate Electrical Engineer Range: $76,365 – $97,739 Annually
Electrical Engineer (Registered) Range: $105,394 – $120,000 Annually
Senior Electrical Engineer (Registered) Range: $121,389 – $139,000 Annually
Graduate/Senior Graduate Electrical Engineer ResponsibilitiesMay provide training, guidance, leadership, and direction to less experienced staff members. May assume the duties and responsibilities of higher-level engineering staff as needed.
Graduate Electrical Engineer ResponsibilitiesCoordinates all phases of engineering duties within the electrical utility system, including but not limited to preparing, reviewing, and interpreting project designs, plans, equipment overhauls, material specifications, engineering estimates, and procurement solicitations. Manages projects from start to finish, and coordinates projects with other BPUB departments, consultants, engineering firms, and/or contractors involved and assigned to the design, operation, construction, and repair of electric utility systems.
Completes pole loading analysis simulations and engineering designs for pole replacement/strengthening for new developments and CIP projects. Develops, maintains, and archives accurate records and documentation of new developments and CIP projects. Assists in the development and implementation of technical specifications, standards, and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, codes, and standards. Troubleshoots, maintains, and evaluates process/systems performance and efficiency, and recommends engineering solutions.
Prepares written documents such as memos, reports, inter-office correspondence, letters of transmittal, document approval summaries (DAS), Contribution In Aid of Construction (CIAC) letters, etc. Completes other job duties as assigned.
Completes cost-benefit analyses applying advanced economic engineering principles for distribution projects. Prepares and reviews Requests for Proposals (RFPs), Request for Bids (RFBs), Requests for Qualifications (RFQs), board agendas, studies, presentations, etc.
Electrical Engineer (Registered)/Senior Electrical Engineer (Registered) ResponsibilitiesMay be required to supervise multiple project teams, define strategic goals for teams, and ensure alignment with business objectives. May assume the duties and responsibilities of the assigned supervisor or manager in their absence.
Electrical Engineer (Registered) ResponsibilitiesDevelops, reviews, and seals engineering designs, technical specifications, standards, and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, codes, and standards. Assists the department with the implementation of BPUB Strategic Plan assignments and goals and recommends projects and construction work plans for improvement to the electric system. Produces a variety of advanced engineering designs and negotiations associated with location, design, construction, and operation of public utility projects in accordance with city/state or federal rules and regulations.
SeniorElectrical Engineer (Registered) Responsibilities
Identifies key performance indicators for developing reports to summarize project status, including time, quality, and cost metrics. Analyzes and interprets the implications of proposed legislation and regulations that may affect utility projects, and communicates legislative, regulatory, and policy changes. Prepares, reviews, and maintains work instructions, procedures, policies, and standards for the Electric Engineering Department and ensures compliance with appropriate regulatory authority.
