Bechtel is partnering with Next Decade to support their vision to provide the world access to lower carbon intensive energy with their Rio Grande LNG (RGLNG) project in Brownsville, Texas.
RGLNG is a natural gas liquefaction and export terminal situated on a 984-acre site on the banks of the Brownsville ship channel. The first phase of the RGLNG project consists of three liquefaction trains, two storage tanks and one marine berth. At full capacity, the five-train facility will have a production capacity of 27 million tonnes per annum (MTPA).

Job Summary:In this role, you will integrate safety and health requirements into complex project planning, design, and operations to reduce the potential for adverse impacts. You will perform risk assessments, provide input on bid decisions, lead meetings and communications, and track and monitor performance trends. Your recommendations will contribute to enhanced quality of safety procedures and work processes. #LI-VB1
Major Responsibilities:- Facilitates execution of the safety component of an ESH Program inclusive of technical and administrative aspects.
- Helps prepare and implement Safety and Health Management Plans, associated plans and procedures, and training program.
- Provides input to Engineering, Construction, Procurement, Subcontracts, Commissioning, and other groups involving safety and health issues, risks, and techniques to reduce adverse impacts.
- Interprets and integrates safety and health requirements in proposals, planning documents, risk assessment, and ESH program execution.
- Researches moderately complex issues and regulatory requirements, performs studies and risk assessments, and prepares documentation and reports.
- Provides support and guidance for safety studies, risk assessments, and program reviews and audits.
- Helps establish emergency preparedness and performs incident investigations.
- Interfaces and communicates with stakeholders and helps resolve their concerns.
- Participates in, or leads, meetings with customers, team members, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
- Conducts ESH inspections and monitoring to identify hazards and risks, evaluate controls and corrective actions, and assess compliance with contract, regulatory, project, and Bechtel requirements.
- Level I - Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant experience
- Level II - Requires a Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) related to occupational safety or health and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience
Skills:
- Specialized knowledge in a safety specialty (e.g., Personal Protective Equipment, lockout/tagout, fall protection, excavation, People Based Safety) or engineering (e.g., civil, process safety, mechanical) or related disciplines.
