Bechtel is partnering with Next Decade to support their vision to provide the world access to lower carbon intensive energy with their Rio Grande LNG (RGLNG) project in Brownsville, Texas. RGLNG is a natural gas liquefaction and export terminal situated on a 984-acre site on the banks of the Brownsville ship channel. The first phase of the RGLNG project consists of three liquefaction trains, two storage tanks and one marine berth.

At full capacity, the five‑train facility will have a production capacity of 27 million tonnes per annum (MTPA).

Job Summary:

The Piping Superintendent (Night Shift) will be responsible for the Pneumatic Testing Scope of Work. Responsible for directing all night-shift piping activities related to large-scale pneumatic testing for approximately 250,000 linear feet of process and utility piping. Ensures safe, compliant, and timely execution of test packages while coordinating closely with day‑shift leadership, system engineers, QC, and construction crews to maintain schedule alignment across all work fronts.

Major Responsibilities:
  • Lead, supervise, and coordinate night‑shift crews performing pneumatic pressure testing on assigned systems, ensuring adherence to project procedures, test plans, and safety protocols.
  • Review test boundaries, isometrics, P&IDs, and engineering documentation to confirm system readiness.
  • Manage pre‑test verification including line walks, isolation checks, blinds, gauge calibration, and manifold setup.
  • Oversee execution of pneumatic tests, ensuring stability, proper pressurization rate, leak detection, and compliance with allowable pressure drop tolerances.
  • Mitigate hazards associated with stored energy, pressure containment, and component failure by enforcing strict exclusion zones, barricading, and Life‑Critical Rules.
  • Identify and troubleshoot issues such as valve leakage, instrument failures, inadequate isolation, cold‑work conflicts, or material defects.
  • Coordinate with QA/QC for hold points, documentation sign‑off, punch list creation, and post‑test restoration.
  • Drive nightly progress reporting, manpower allocation, equipment needs, and forecasted completions.
  • Work proactively with survey, scaffolding, coatings, and other interfacing disciplines to remove work blockers.
  • Maintain accurate records of test pressures, durations, failures, retests, and sign‑off packages for turnover to completions and commissioning.
  • Train and mentor foremen and craft workers on pneumatic testing hazards, procedures, and best practices.
  • Support system prioritization to meet turnover milestones, critical path activities, and hydro/pneumatic sequencing.
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8‑10 years of relevant experience or 12‑14 years of relevant work experience
