Job Summary
A Lead Instructor is responsible for teaching courses and assumes the administrative responsibilities of a Lead Instructor. The Lead Instructor is accountable for program effectiveness, including outcomes, organization, administration, continuous review, planning and development. In situations where a program is newly implemented or the student population does not warrant a Program Director, the Lead Instructor provides leadership and oversight. When two schools in close proximity offer the same program, a Program Director may be physically located at one campus while a Lead Instructor is located at the other.
In cases where a program is large enough, both a Program Director and a Lead Instructor may be necessary.
Reporting to the Director of Education, the Lead Instructor provides subject‑matter expertise and actively participates in curriculum development, revision, and implementation. The Lead Instructor delivers face‑to‑face product‑knowledge training to the Admissions group and engages with potential students ponsibilities also include hiring, assigning, orienting, developing, evaluating, and recognizing instructors within the program of study, as well as convening faculty meetings.
The Lead Instructor monitors and supports the student population, advising during provisional periods, handling complaints, and providing career‑oriented advice. They analyze student data to identify at‑risk students and provide support services. Continuous program improvement, campus effectiveness planning, advisory board meetings, and data reporting to the CRC Academic team are also key duties. The Lead Instructor cultivates employer relationships for externships, internships, and clinical/practicum experiences and hires the instructor of record for credit‑bearing courses as per Delta’s policies.
Key ResponsibilitiesI Provides Services to Students
- Meet each first‑term student during the drop/add or provisional period to answer questions and validate program choice.
- Advise on scheduling and provide program‑specific guidance.
- Supplement instructor advisement for students with failing mid‑term reports.
- Provide academic advising and referrals to outside resources when needed.
- Arrange student tutoring when required.
- Lead student retention initiatives for students experiencing barriers to success.
- Maintain regular contact and respond promptly to student inquiries; post office hours.
- Refer students to appropriate staff for non‑academic problem resolution.
- Participate in each term’s New Student Orientation Program; orient returning students.
- Contact students who miss consecutive days or accumulate excessive absences.
- Maintain records of interactions in the Student Information System (Campus Vue).
- Monitor instructor‑to‑student contact and results; make weekly calls to unreachable students.
- Act as a sponsor for a student club related to the program area and encourage participation.
- Monitor extracurricular activities related to the program of study.
- Identify tutoring needs and coordinate instructors or peers for tutoring.
II Oversees Quality of Curriculum, Instructional Materials, Equipment, and Facilities
- Serve as subject‑matter expert for academic curriculum.
- Actively participate in curriculum development/revision led by Ancora Academics.
- Lead implementation of new and revised curriculum.
- Schedule, develop agenda for, and convene the local Advisory Board; keep meeting minutes.
- Monitor classroom instructional materials and equipment.
- Provide input into master scheduling regarding course sequencing, room assignments, and instructor assignments.
- Manage externship, student clinic, practicum, and related programs.
III Oversees Faculty Performance and Development
- Assist the Director of Education with recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of faculty.
- Evaluate faculty transcripts for course assignments.
- Orient, monitor, supervise, mentor, and assist new instructors.
- Ensure instructors adhere to required administrative and classroom duties.
- Ensure completeness of faculty files and documentation of transcripts, professional development, observations, and performance reviews.
