Position: Die Maintenance - 1st shift - Direct Hire

Overview

Basic Function:
This position is responsible for maintaining, repairing and troubleshooting dies and fixtures before, during and after production runs to optimize performance and tool life.

Reporting Relationships:
This position reports to the Die Maintenance Supervisor. This position is not responsible for supervising.

Authority:
This position has the authority to stop production and report issues to the Stampi ng Department Manager, Die Maintenance Supervisor and/or Quality Manager(s).

Responsibilities
  • Is responsible for maintaining and sharpening dies as determined after evaluation of condition and performance.
  • Is responsible for troubleshooting tooling during production runs for quality or performance issues.
  • Is responsible for building new die components.
  • Is responsible for identifying items to be purchased and working with the Die
  • Is responsible for maintaining tool repair records in Plex.
  • Is responsible for keeping records on die maintenance sheets
  • Principle Duties: (Tasks)
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment
  • Complete forms and submit to department manager for ordering materials
  • Perform other duties as needed, including housekeeping
  • Assist Stamping operators for quality production

  • Maintains a safe work environment
  • Dies are evaluated, maintained, and recorded in a timely manner
  • Minimum level of education/training required:
    This position requires successful completion of 4 years of high school, or equivalent, as well as successful completion of a state indentured tool and die apprenticeship program, or six or more years served as a nonindentured tool and die maker working on stamping dies.
  • Minimum experience required:
    This position requires a journeyman tool maker with 3 years of experience in building, maintaining, and troubleshooting progressive tooling. Basic computer skills are also required.
  • License or certificate required:
    Journeyman Card in Tool and Die.
