Position: Customer Delivery Driver  Extra

Our Customer Delivery Driver rate of pay starts from £13.35 an hour; this increases to £14.56 for stores inside the M25. Additional payments may also apply depending on location.

We offer a minimum of 16 guaranteed hours each week. If you prefer fewer hours, you can work down to a minimum of 12 hours.

Availability Window

Provide your availability for the following days and times. We will schedule your contracted hours within these windows and give you three weeks' notice of exact shift dates.

  • Monday: 18:00 to 23:00
  • Wednesday: 17:00 to 22:00
  • Thursday: 17:00 to 22:30
  • Saturday: 13:00 to 23:00

If your availability matches closely but not exactly, we may still consider you.

About the role

As the face of Tesco on the road, you deliver customer orders across the country. This role is more than just driving; it's about meeting and talking to customers in their homes, providing great service with a smile.

The role is hands‑on, physical, and full of variety. No two shifts are the same, and you will experience a range of customer needs. You will feel like your own boss while working, but you also have a team of managers and colleagues at base ready to support you.

Responsibilities
  • Keep the van and trays clean and tidy.
  • Leave the back yard clean, tidy, and free of rubbish, picking up litter as necessary.
  • Wash trays as part of the tray wash process.
  • Load the van as required and check the van for roadworthiness.
  • Communicate with customers about order changes, substitutions, or refunds.
  • Treat products and deliveries as if they were your own.
  • Explain to the customer that they will not be charged for substitutions.
  • Deliver during the customer’s time slot.
  • Call the customer before arriving if you are early.
  • Call the store/centre if running 30 or more minutes late.
Qualifications
  • Build relationships with colleagues to create a team spirit.
  • Be warm and welcoming in interactions with customers and colleagues.
  • Act quickly and respond to changing needs of customers.
  • Be energetic, driven, and able to balance home and work.
  • Share ideas with management and colleagues to improve service.
  • Hold a valid UK/EU/EEA driving licence (full or automatic) for at least 12 months with no more than 3 penalty points.
