Technical position performing skilled repairs and fabrication to small equipment, tools, and devices. Skilled work maintaining a Small Equipment Repair and Fabrication Shop, and warehouse. Responsible for the receiving, storing, and issuing of small tools, equipment, and construction materials to Public Works crews on a daily basis. Utilizes an electronic inventory management system. Utilizes and maintains an asset management system. Inventories all tools, parts, and equipment to ensure accurate accountability.

Performs inventory and tracks all consumables and safety equipment. Performs in field diagnostics and repairs. Communicates with vendors, supervisors, co-workers, and service representatives to ensure service and repair is effective and efficient. Maintains and assists with the annual Asset Inventory Audit. The following statements describe the principal functions of this job and its scope of responsibility but shall not be considered an all-inclusive listing of work requirements.

Banking to balance the workload.

  • Maintains and oversees a Warehouse, Repair, and Fabrication Shop.
  • Performs diagnostics and inspections of small equipment, tools, and devices.
  • Responsible for receiving, storing, and issuing small tools, equipment, materials, structures, and devices.
  • Repairs and fabricates small equipment, hand tools, small tools, metal structures, and devices in Right-of-Way and drainage systems.
  • Maintains, schedules, and performs all maintenance and repairs for small equipment and tools as needed.
  • Occasionally designs other methods for repair.
  • Utilizes an electronic inventory, and asset management systems.
  • Maintains inventory records for all tools, parts, equipment, and consumables assigned to the warehouse and shop, to include requisitions, sign out sheets, purchase order history, stock levels, and repair records.
  • Maintains inventory on all material within the DPW yard to ensure that inventory levels areérance maintained, and orders coordinated with the appropriate supervisor for re‑stocking any material.
  • Maintains repair and maintenance records on all small tools and equipment.
  • Performs inventory and tracks all consumable and safety equipment within the warehouse and shop.
  • Communicates with vendors, service representatives, supervisors and co‑workers to ensure repair is effective and efficient.
  • Recommends to supervisor the replacement of any equipment or tool that is not economically or practically viable to repair.
  • Responsible for coordinating with supervisor the disposal of surplus, obsolete, or damaged equipment.
  • Maintains and assists with the annual Asset Inventory Audit.
  • Performs in‑field diagnostics and repairs.
  • Responsible for scanning and documenting of uniform pick‑up, repairs, and replacement.обрists with the tracking and maintenance of records pertaining to uniform rental for all staff assigned to Road Maintenance and Traffic Divisions.
  • Issue tools, equipment, and material to County personnel as necessary and maintains an accurate listing of all equipment or tools issued to each individual. Reviews at the end of the day the list of equipment/tools issued and notifies the appropriate supervisor of any missing tools or pieces of equipment the following day.
  • Enforces warehouse and compound security at the close of the business day, to ensure all doors are secure and locked and any unusual situations are reported immediately to the supervisor or Assistant Public Works Director.
  • Operates a forklift when needed to stage material outside of the storeroom.
  • Maintains the Compound in good appearance, requiring mowing, trimming, and planting when necessary.
  • Assists with Emergency Preparedness after the Local, State, and/or Federal Government declares a State of Emergency.
  • Maintains the inventory records of Emergency Material.
  • May assist in training employees in the proper and safe use of equipment to reduce injury and unnecessary repairs.
  • Other duties as assigned.
