Liquor Store Manager II

Job Purpose

Job Summary

This role will effectively lead, manage, and develop overall stand-alone liquor store operations and associates to execute best practices and maximize sales and profitability. Responsible for the profit and loss (P&L) for their store and must use leadership and merchandising skills to manage the product levels and make sound business decisions by creating a shopping and working environment that exemplifies the company’s commitment to and vision of service, quality, and neighborhood partnerships.

Responsibilities
  • Store Leadership – Leads and empowers teams to deliver a great shopping experience for customers in alignment with the company’s vision, goals, expectations, and policies. Maintains open communication channels for ideas, suggestions, and feedback. Demonstrates and role models exceptional customer service, greeting and assisting customers and ensuring efficient, courteous service. Establishes and maintains professional relationships with customers, associates, vendors, suppliers, and regulatory agencies.

    Time allocation: 40%
  • Financial Leadership – Oversees the financial budget, in-stocks, inventory, shrink, expenses including labor and supply management and cash control with integrity and urgency. Maximizes sales and profits by effective displays, ordering, scheduling, and work planning. Reviews P&L for opportunities and communicates status and action plans with the district manager. Time allocation: 40%
  • Associate Leadership – Recruits, interviews and hires qualified applicants within compensation guidelines. Ensures orientation and training for new associates and conducts regular evaluations. Develops associates through feedback, praise, and recognition. Adheres to employment laws and company policies in partnership with HR and legal. Addresses performance issues or recommends separation when necessary. Time allocation: 20%

Qualifications Required Education

High School / GED

Preferred Education

English;
English and Spanish

Relevant Experience

Supervisory

Experience:

3-6 yrs minimum; 1-5 yrs minimum in related roles

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Proven experience in a supervisory or lead position in supermarkets, retail, restaurants, hotels or general business.
  • Possession of Food Safety Certification or ability to obtain within 180 days of placement.
  • High standard of integrity and reliability.
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to address issues and minimize business impact; proficient with computer applications used in operating the department.
  • Knowledge of liquor, wines, and beers.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, motivational, customer service, and communication skills.
  • Alcohol Compliance Training.
Environmental Factors

Retail - Location Management:
Physical Demands and Working Conditions include standing or walking on varied surfaces, manual dexterity, vision, hearing, repetitive movements, lifting up to specified weights, occasional sitting, bending, kneeling, and climbing up to 30 ft. Exposure to indoor/outdoor environments, cold, heat, humidity, and hazardous cleaning solutions. Safety risks include working on cluttered floors, exposure to sharp objects and loud noises. Equipment used includes cleaning supplies, registers, scales, scanners, and various tools;

may require use of heavy machinery and kitchen/industrial equipment as described in the job scope.
