Job Summary

We're looking for a focused and experienced Control Room Operator to join our team. In this role, you'll be responsible for operating and monitoring critical systems within our cement plant, ensuring continuous and safe production. You will be the eyes and ears of our operation, making real-time decisions that impact safety, product quality, and overall plant performance.

Job Responsibilities
  • Safe Operation:
    Follow all Cemex, OSHA, and MSHA safety guidelines and use proper PPE at all times.
  • System Monitoring:
    Operate digital control systems and manage material flow through raw milling, kiln burning, clinker cooling, and storage processes.
  • Alarm Response:
    Monitor systems and respond appropriately to alarms or irregularities to ensure operational stability.
  • Product Quality:
    Conduct testing of raw materials and finished product to meet quality standards; report issues immediately.
  • Maintenance Support:
    Assist with minor repairs, maintenance tasks, and plant troubleshooting.
  • Log Keeping:
    Maintain accurate logs and daily performance records across various instruments and systems.
  • Team

    Collaboration:

    Train other employees as needed and support department meetings and initiatives.
  • Clean‑Up and Safety:
    Keep the control room and adjacent work areas clean and organized.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Language skills commensurate with education.
  • Mathematical skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, area and volume.
  • Reasoning skills: ability to recognize potentially hazardous situations, understand instructions given by supervisor, possess common sense.
  • Educational and licensing requirements: A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • Experience:

    Four years of general plant experience or six years of cement plant experience if joining from outside the company.
  • Skills:

    Proficiency in control systems and computer applications; strong communication skills; mechanical aptitude and ability to read diagrams; mathematical ability related to production measurements; strong decision‑making and safety awareness.
Working Conditions
  • Safety First:
    Wearing protective equipment and adhering to safety protocols is a must.
  • Dynamic Environment:
    Work in outdoor and indoor environments, exposure to physical labor and harsh conditions (extreme heat, humidity, extreme cold, noise, dust).
  • Physical Requirements:

    Frequent walking, standing, climbing, lifting up to 50 lbs occasionally, clear verbal communication, ability to hear alarms and radio communication, must be physically able to perform all essential job functions, including passing a physical exam with back x‑ray, vision test, hearing test, functional capability evaluation, respiratory fit test and drug/alcohol screen.
  • Work Schedule:

    Employees are expected to work varying shifts as needed, which may include early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Work Location:

    This position is required to be performed in person at the assigned worksite. Remote work is not available for this role.
