Job Summary and Qualifications

The Lead Respiratory Therapist coordinates and delivers high-quality, patient-centered respiratory care in accordance with the department requirements and the standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. As a vital part of the patient care team, the Lead Respiratory Therapist performs a variety of diagnostic tests and therapeutic procedures and monitors patients receiving invasive and noninvasive mechanical ventilation.

We are seeking an ambitious Lead Respiratory Therapist to help us reach our goals. You will evaluate the respiratory needs of your patients and develop and implement the Respiratory Care Plan. Take the next step in your career.

Your duties and responsibilities may include
  • Apply and operate acute care ventilators used for continuous short- and long-term mechanical ventilation.
  • Be self-directed in the absence of the full-time Team Leader.
  • Maintain all department and hospital records and enter accurate information into the hospital computer for therapy as given.
  • Perform procedures with care and empathy for patients.
Requirements
  • Completion of a two-year AMA-approved respiratory care program (Associate’s Degree or equivalent) or Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Graduate of a respiratory care program accredited by CoARC.
  • Minimum 3 years of Respiratory Therapy experience; critical care and intubation experience preferred.
  • Current Florida Certified (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) licensure
  • American Heart Association BLS health care provider required. ACLS, PALS and NRP within 6 months of hire.
  • Frequent standing, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling and moving equipment.
  • Requires critical thinking, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate actions in volatile situations.
  • Customer service abilities including effective listening skills.
Qualifications to obtain
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date
  • Associate Degree or higher
  • (CRT-State) Certified Respiratory Therapist, or (RRT/RCP-State) Respiratory Therapist/Practitioner
