Pay: $44,000 – $45,000 per year
Youth Opportunity’s Brooksville Youth Academy is a 72‑bed Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility serving adolescent males ages 13–17. The program delivers trauma‑informed mental health and substance abuse treatment in a structured therapeutic environment. Youth participate in individual, family, and group therapy, restorative justice programming, life skills development, vocational prep, and enrichment activities such as art, music, recreation, yoga, and equine therapy. Services are provided 24/7 in small group living units to support emotional stabilization and successful community reintegration.
Length of stay varies based on progress toward individualized treatment goals.
The Role
We are seeking a passionate General Education Teacher to provide individualized instruction and support for students in grades 6‑12 in English, Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies. This role is essential to improving outcomes for students with complex needs through collaboration, structured programming, and a trauma‑informed approach.

- Instruct students to build academic, interpersonal, and daily living skills
- Develop and deliver lesson plans aligned with individualized needs and IEPs
- Administer developmental and academic assessments
- Adapt classroom materials and lessons for diverse learners
- Monitor and assess student progress, providing feedback to teams and caregivers
- Counsel students on academic and behavioral challenges
- Collaborate with teachers, staff, foster parents, and outside resources
- Document grades, attendance, behavior logs, and other required reports
- Support the prevention of client abuse through vigilance and policy adherence
- Report incidents promptly to ensure safety and compliance
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education
- Valid driver’s license and ability to pass background checks
- Valid teaching license
Preferred:
- Master’s degree or Special Education certification
- 3+ years teaching experience with students with behavioral, developmental, or intellectual disabilities
- First Aid, CPR, and crisis prevention training (or willingness to obtain)
- Must be in good physical health and emotionally stable
- Able to actively engage with youth, participate in physical interventions, and transport youth or staff as needed
- Must be free of communicable diseases as defined by the state
- Must pass evaluation of physical techniques and certification exams
