The Technical Textile Testing & Compliance Specialist is a leadership role responsible for the company’s quality assurance functions, compliance stewardship, and technical product integrity. This position is responsible for the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of QA systems company‑wide, including the ISO 9001 QMS compliance program.
The Specialist will serve as the primary technical expert for fabric testing (physical and chemical), compliance with third‑party agencies, and specification adherence. This role requires a cross‑functional leader who can collaborate across the organization, utilize internal systems such as Jomar and Salesforce to drive metrics, and support supply chain partners to ensure MMI continues to deliver exceptional product quality and service.
CoreResponsibilities
1. Quality Systems & ISO 9001 Leadership
- Lead the company’s ISO 9001 QMS program, overseeing Product Non‑Conformance (NC), On‑Time Delivery (OTD), Calibration, and Continuous Improvement initiatives.
- Establish and measure supplier and product performance through planned testing protocols and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to maximize customer satisfaction and business value.
- Devise and review technical specifications for products and processes, ensuring all internal spec sheets and data sheets are accurate and high performing.
- Provide testing protocols and manage the internal lab testing team to create a comprehensive testing program that benefits MMI, customers, and suppliers.
- Act as the internal authority on the interpretation of third‑party test results (SGS, Intertek, etc.), providing technical resolutions for fabric failures.
- Maintain mastery of technical fabric terminology and accurate definitions of performance attributes.
- Serve as the lead liaison for customer‑mandated third‑party compliance companies.
- Ensure full compliance with government and industry standards, including Berry Amendment, Buy American Act, REACH, and Prop 65.
- Manage chemical compliance and Restricted Substances Lists (RSL) across the global supply chain.
- Collaborate cross‑functionally on product development projects from concept through bulk production.
- Support MMI initiatives at supplier and partner facilities; travel to domestic and international mills to investigate quality issues and verify production capabilities.
- Utilize the Jomar ERP and other systems to track project milestones, manage supplier performance, and drive data‑driven decision‑making.
- Leadership: Proven ability to drive problem‑solving and process resolution across departments (Sales, CS, Supply Chain).
- Technical Mastery: Deep understanding of textile engineering, including fibers, yarns, constructions, coatings and other specified fabric requirements.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written skills; ability to communicate complex customer requirements and testing results throughout the organization.
- Organization: Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects in a time‑constrained environment.
- Systems: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and experienced with ERP systems.
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree preferred, with a strong emphasis on Textile Engineering or Textile Science.
- Experience: 5–10 years of Quality Assurance, Product Development, or Textile Engineering experience in textiles/apparel.
- 5–10 years of Production, Manufacturing, or Distribution management experience.
- Certifications: Experience leading or managing ISO 9001 certified environments.
- Travel: Ability to travel to customer or supplier locations for audits and project management.
