The Consulting Psychologist works in partnership with Social Services and Residential Life Services staff to provide psychological evaluations of children (ages 15-21) in our Child Welfare Residential Programs.
HOURS: AS NEEDED/Part-Time/Flexible
LOCATION: Lower Manhattan and Brooklyn
CERTIFICATION REQUIRED: New York State Education Certification as a Psychologist.
MAJOR DUTIES:
- The Psychologist completes comprehensive psychological testing on children and adolescents; administers, scores and interprets a wide range of tests including intelligence, perceptual-motor, adaptive (i.e. Vineland), projective (where indicated) and achievement tests.
- Evaluations are done within 45 days for children in our Rapid Intervention Center and annually in our Hard-to-Place Group Home. They are often required upon entry into foster care to assist with treatment and educational planning. They are also performed to evaluate need for step-up to higher or lower levels of care.
- The Psychologist provides clinical assessment and diagnostic formulations to assist in overall case management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Advanced degree in Psychology from an APA approved training program; minimum 2 years’ experience; experience engaging at-risk youth. Familiarity with child welfare issues preferable.
- Must have excellent collaborative, written and verbal communication skills.
- Interest in working with children/adolescents.
- Must have a commitment to work from a strength-based, trauma informed and youth development perspective.
