Clinical Manager, Supervised Release Program

The Center for Justice Innovation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing community safety and racial justice. Since 1996, we’ve worked alongside communities, courts, and those most directly affected by the justice system to build stronger, healthier, and more equitable neighborhoods. With a team of over 900 staff and an annual budget of $130 million, the Center carries out its mission through three core strategies: operating innovative programs, conducting original research, and providing expert assistance and policy guidance to reformers across the country.

Opportunity

Brooklyn Justice Initiatives (BJI), the largest operating project of the Center, seeks to re-engineer the experience of criminal court in Brooklyn, New York by providing judges and attorneysdriver meaningful alternatives to bail, fines, and jail sentences. The Supervised Release Program (SRP) offers an alternative to jail through pre‑trial supervision, case management, and voluntary social services for people charged with misdemeanor and felony offenses.

We are looking for a Clinical Manager to oversee SRP clinicians, ensuring that program offerings and clinical interventions are carried out ethically and in alignment with our value system.

Responsibilities
  • Provide weekly supervision and bi‑weekly group supervision to SRP clinicians.
  • Offer clinical support in community offices and coordinate emergency services in response to participant escalations.
  • Cover for clinicians as needed.
  • Review mandatory program recommendations before court submission.
  • Support policy and protocol implementation with the Director of Programming & Partnerships and SRP Court Reform team.
  • Collaborate with training specialists to ensure staff are consistently trained.
  • Co‑facilitate required clinical training sessions (intake, assessment, de‑escalation, crisis intervention).
  • Implement group and individual programming to address participant needs and court mandates.
  • Monitor quality assurance, compliance with program requirements, best practices, and court reporting obligations.
  • Lead cross‑team communication and collaboration to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Recruit, hire, onboard, and train new clinical team members.
  • Ensure equitable access to external professional development ontzettend.
  • Participate in regular staff trainings for program expertise.
  • Perform additional tasks as necessary.
Qualifications
  • LMSW, MHC, or equivalent licensure required; LCSW preferred.
  • 4 years direct practice (therapeutic or case management) and 2 years supervisory experience required.
  • Strong experience in group work development and facilitation preferred.
  • Experience in pre‑trial or criminal legal systems preferred.
  • Experience with specialized needs (substance abuse, mental health, co‑occurring disorders, intimate partner violence, adolescent development) preferred.
  • Therapeutic intervention training (crisis intervention, de‑escalation) preferred.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of local social service providers required.
  • Strong organizational, time‑management, and detail‑oriented skills.
  • Trauma‑informed and strength‑based approach experience preferred.
  • Training or experience in Motivational Interviewing and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team on a fast‑paced schedule.
  • Professional demeanor and collaborative skills with judges, prosecutors, attorneys, court staff, and partner agencies required.
  • Bilingual (English‑Spanish) strongly preferred.

Compensation

The compensation range for this position is $78,000 - $92,500 and is commensurate with experience.
