We are seeking a talented and passionate Pastry Cook to join our dynamic kitchen team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in baking and pastry arts, with a keen eye for detail and creativity in cake decorating. This role is essential in producing high-quality pastries, desserts, and baked goods that delight our customers. As Miski Café continues to grow, this role has the potential to expand into a Café Manager position. Team member’s who demonstrate leadership, reliability, and ownership may take on responsibilities such as scheduling, hiring support, training new staff and overseeing daily café-wide operations.
Responsibilities- Prepare and bake a variety of pastries, cakes, and desserts according to established recipes and standards.
- Decorate cakes and pastries with artistic flair, ensuring visual appeal and quality presentation.
- Package finished products for display or sale, maintaining freshness and quality.
- Assist in food preparation tasks as needed, including mixing ingredients and measuring portions.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen workspace, adhering to food safety regulations.
- Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure timely production of menu items for catering events or restaurant service.
- Provide excellent customer service by engaging with patrons regarding pastry offerings and taking special orders when necessary.
- Utilize proper knife skills for food preparation while ensuring safety protocols are followed.
- Proven experience in pastry production or baking within a professional kitchen environment.
- Strong cake decorating skills with an eye for detail and creativity.
- Familiarity with food handling practices and food safety regulations is essential.
- Previous experience in the food industry or culinary arts is highly desirable.
- Excellent cooking skills with the ability to follow recipes accurately.
- Experience in catering or restaurant settings is a plus.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality standards.
