Position: Certified Arborist Technician Part Time

Reports to: Project Manager

• General Qualities:
• Is a proactive self-starter.
• Meeting with clients to discuss their landscaping needs.
• Can accomplish assigned tasks independently with guidance from their supervisor.
• Ability to work in all weather conditions and at heights.
• Completes timecard daily.

• Technical Responsibilities:
• Certified to work on NYCDOT projects on NYC Department of Parks & Recreation (NYCDPR) property, to inspect the removal and installation of trees and other vegetation.
• Assesses and evaluates the condition of trees and other vegetation.
• Maintains tree inventories.
• Assessing soil and space requirements for new trees.
• Proven work experience as an Arborist or similar role.
• Knowledge of soil biology and fertilizer compositions.

• Educational Requirements:
• High school diploma/equivalent.
• Must be a "Registered Consulting Arborist" by the American Society of Consulting Arborists (ASCA), and must be familiar with NYCDPR standards, specifications, and reporting OR
• Must possess certification from International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) with the minimum credential of Certified Arborist.
• Completion of an accredited Arborist training program
• NYC Parks Department experience is desirable.
• Previous experience as Certified Arborist is desirable.

• Ability to climb trees and work at heights.
• Ability to lift up to 60 lbs.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods on active construction sites.
• Willingness to work night and weekend shifts as required by the project.
