MANAGER
MIDWIFERY (NON-NYSNA) FULL TIME / MONDAY - FRIDAY
Under the direction of the Chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, the Manager of the Midwifery Service functions as the manager of the Midwife service and as such is responsible for the overall development of the Midwifery Service and for coordinating all the ongoing activities of the service.
ResponsibilitiesProvide visionary leadership and direction for the midwifery department, ensuring alignment with the hospital's mission and values.
In conjunction with Director of Obstetrics, oversees the creation, implementation, and continuous review of midwifery protocols for both staff and voluntary midwives, ensuring adherence to the latest clinical guidelines and best practices complying with State regulations, American College of Nurse Midwives standards, the By-Laws of Maimonides Medical Center and insurance providers.
Manage and support staff midwives, including hiring and collaborating with Nurse Recruitment for onboarding, fostering a collaborative environment that promotes professional growth, excellence in care, and adherence to evidence-based practices.
Work closely with hospitalists to ensure seamless integration of midwifery services within the broader healthcare team, enhancing patient care and outcomes.
Develop and implement ongoing education and training programs for midwifery staff, including orientation for new staff and continuing education opportunities. Coordinates clinical education and training for family practice residents, medical students and student nurse midwives.
