A non-profit organization based in Brooklyn, NY is seeking a dynamic, detail-oriented, and highly organized Development Manager to serve in a supervisory role within its Development and Fundraising team. This position plays a critical role in advancing the organization’s fundraising goals by providing leadership, operational oversight, and hands‑on support across donor relations, fundraising initiatives, and special events.
The Development Manager will supervise staff, manage donor communications, support fundraising operations, and help ensure the smooth execution of development activities. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, effective leader, and proactive problem‑solver who is comfortable balancing strategy with day‑to‑day execution in a mission‑driven environment.
Key Responsibilities Team Leadership & Supervision- Supervise and support development staff, providing guidance, training, and performance oversight
- Foster a collaborative, accountable, and results‑driven team environment
- Assist with staff scheduling, workflow management, and task prioritization
- Communicate professionally and effectively with donors, supporters, and stakeholders
- Prepare and review written correspondence, acknowledgments, reports, and donor communications
- Support donor stewardship efforts to strengthen long‑term relationships
- Provide operational and administrative support to the Development and Fundraising team
- Assist with tracking donations, pledges, and donor records
- Maintain accurate documentation and reporting related to fundraising activities
- Maintain, update, and manage fundraising technology platforms and databases
- Ensure data accuracy and integrity within fundraising systems
- Learn and utilize fundraising platforms effectively with provided training
- Support reporting and analysis related to fundraising performance
- Assist with planning, coordinating, and executing fundraising events and campaigns
- Support logistics, communications, and follow‑up related to events
- Work on special development projects and initiatives as assigned
- Work closely with senior leadership and cross‑functional teams to support fundraising goals
- Contribute ideas and insights to improve fundraising processes and outcomes
Ensure timely follow‑up on action items, donor requests, and internal deliverables
Required Qualifications
- Prior experience supervising staff in a professional setting
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
- High level of technological proficiency and ability to quickly learn new systems
- Experience working in a fundraising or development office
- Familiarity with nonprofit fundraising environments and donor relations
- Experience using fundraising databases or CRM platforms
- Self‑starter with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
