PURPOSE:
The Mishkon IDD Programs at The Jewish Board provide supports and services in a healthy and safe environment for individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities living in residential programs and in community settings. Our core values promote person‑centered planning, community integration, and close collaboration with families and the community, all within an Orthodox Jewish framework.
The Assistant Director of Residential Services provides managerial and operational oversight of assigned Individualized Residential Alternatives (IRA) home(s) or Intermediate Care Facility (ICF) unit(s) serving adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This leadership role ensures high‑quality, person‑centered care aligned with individual needs, preferences, and goals, while operating within the regulatory frameworks of OPWDD, DOH, CARF, and the Jewish Board’s standards. The Assistant Director supervises Residence Managers, maintains regulatory compliance, fosters a culture of accountability, compassion, and excellence, and provides direct coverage in their absence.
They play a key role in interdisciplinary coordination, staff development, and ensuring programming, documentation, and service delivery meet both regulatory and organizational expectations.
- Manage and support day‑to‑day operations of multiple IRA or ICF residences.
- Ensure smooth operations: scheduling, budgeting, supply management.
- Conduct daily site visits to observe and evaluate services.
- Oversee vehicle and physical plant maintenance, safety, and emergency response.
- Monitor health and medical needs and report concerns.
- Monitor finances of individuals (PNA ledgers, money‑management assessments).
- Review fire‑drill reports and update Fire Evacuation Plans.
- Coordinate with managers for individuals’ daily living, leisure, and community integration.
- Manage program master schedules and ensure adequate coverage.
- Ensure compliance with State and Federal regulations (OPWDD, DOH, etc.).
- Conduct regular quality‑assurance checks and audits.
- Participate in internal audits and licensing inspections, addressing deficiencies.
- Ensure timely incident reporting and documentation.
- Maintain accurate and timely program documentation and billable records.
- Participate in OPWDD/DOH/IAC training.
- Supervise and support Residence Managers and assigned staff.
- Hire, train, evaluate, and provide performance feedback to staff.
- Conduct team meetings, 1:1 supervision, and ongoing training.
- Lead, coach, and support Residence Managers in program initiatives and individual support.
- Train Direct Support Staff and Residence Managers.
- Complete performance evaluations and follow up on recommendations.
- Provide on‑call support to staff during crisis/emergency calls.
- Coordinate interdisciplinary team processes (clinical, nursing, residential).
- Coordinate all program elements (ISPs, IPPs, behavior plans).
- Work in tandem with:
- Nurse/LPNs for medical care and order implementation.
- BIS for behavior plans and clinical protocols.
- Facilities for maintenance and facility issues.
- Attend and contribute to interdisciplinary team meetings.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve quality of life using a person‑centered approach.
- Engage with individuals and their families regularly to ensure satisfaction and address concerns proactively.
- Manage relationships with families, guardians, and advocates.
- Provide reports and documentation to the Director of Residential Services.
