Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Technical Manager - Radiology, CT. The role is responsible for managing the administrative, informational, quality assurance, regulatory compliance, clinical performance compliance and operational functions of all patient care sections of the NYU Langone Hospital Radiology department. The manager serves as a leader and role model for Radiology employees within the organization, oversees staffing concerns, collaborates on resource utilization, resolves performance management issues, and manages clinical activities.

Collaboration occurs with the radiology administrative director, section chiefs, institution practice managers, nursing management, radiology management team, radiology nurses and technologists, and radiology support personnel.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provides management coverage to leadership team (peer group).
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Supports and collaborates with the Administrator(s) to plan, organize, develop, and implement the directives of the Department. Works with Senior Administrative Director, Section Chiefs, institution practice managers/nursing directors, radiology management team, technologists and radiology nurses, and radiology support personnel.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the organization’s mission and core values and incorporates them into duties.
  • Oversees evaluation of products, supplies, space and imaging equipment; develops and implements inventory control systems for films, solutions, cassettes, and technical operations. Evaluates equipment condition and makes recommendations for replacement or upgrading. Assists in long-range planning for new equipment and the evaluation/application of new equipment. Provides budgetary input for anticipated needs. Ensures equipment maintenance records are maintained. Approves service reports. Participates in long-range planning for equipment, space, and personnel.

    Represents the department with outside vendors. Initiates quotes, purchases, repairs, and maintenance contracts to maintain efficiency and minimize costs.
  • Coordinates hiring and performance management of professional staff, including technologists and support staff. Maintains technical skills for training and counseling staff. Conducts interviews and makes hiring recommendations. Plans orientations and ensures assignments have clear expectations and follow-up with the Technical Supervisor. Allocates resources to accomplish tasks and communicates responsibilities and performance standards. Conducts performance reviews per guidelines.
  • Oversees quality control, regulatory compliance, and an effective quality assurance program. Maintains cleanliness, safety, and infection control per internal and external policies. Develops and maintains quality control programs for equipment and imaging systems. Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations; reviews testing documentation for accuracy. Maintains awareness of regulatory requirements and ensures policies meet standards. Ensures department compliance with regulatory guidelines of TJC and other agencies.

    Collaborates with ancillary and nursing departments and hospital committees to ensure standards of care. Works with the Radiation Safety Officer to ensure compliance with the Department’s Radiation Safety Program.
