Chief Financial Officer

Our client, a mission-driven nonprofit in Brooklyn, is seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer to lead all aspects of financial strategy, reporting, and controls for a multi-program human services organization focused on addressing homelessness, domestic violence, HIV/AIDS, mental illness, substance abuse, unemployment, and the shortage of affordable housing.

• Own the organization’s overall financial strategy, planning, and analysis
• Lead accounting, payroll, reporting, and internal controls
• Oversee budgeting, budget modifications, and forecasting across all programs
• Manage annual audits, compliance, and financial reporting (including Form 990)
• Review and approve claims to government funders and ensure contract compliance
• Partner closely with the CEO and Board on financial strategy and organizational growth

• Master’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance
• CPA strongly preferred
• 8–10 years of senior-level financial management experience (nonprofit/human services highly preferred)
• Experience with NYC and NYS government contracts; familiarity with DSS/DHS/HRA a strong plus
• Comfort managing complex funding streams (government, philanthropy, other revenue)
• Proficiency with Excel and nonprofit accounting/payroll systems
• Track record of building and leading high-performing finance teams
