Mechanical Engineer

Role Overview

The ideal candidate is a detail‑oriented Mechanical Engineer with a strong foundation in mechanical design principles. This role thrives in a collaborative, creative environment and works closely with cross‑functional teams to bring innovative technologies to life in a fast‑paced start‑up setting. Daily challenges require creative problem‑solving, engineering intuition, and the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly.

This position involves managing projects from concept through production, including prototyping and design validation. The successful candidate will be committed to continuous product improvement and will stay ahead of industry trends to ensure designs remain at the forefront of technological advancement.

Primary Responsibilities

+ Design and develop mechanical components and systems for autonomous platforms, ensuring functionality, manufacturability, and optimized performance.

+ Create and revise detailed 3D CAD models and 2D drawings.

+ Conduct stress, thermal, and vibration analyses or simulations to validate designs.

+ Prepare and maintain specifications and documentation for manufacturing and assembly.

+ Participate in prototyping, assembly, fabrication, and validation of new designs.

+ Identify design and manufacturing issues through root‑cause analysis and implement effective solutions.

+ Manage design projects through the full engineering lifecycle and support implementation through the Engineering Change Process.

+ Drive continuous product improvement through cross‑functional collaboration and participation in design reviews.

+ Support integration efforts for customer‑specific requirements and new product applications.

Qualifications

+ Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field (Master's degree is a plus).

+ 3+ years of experience in mechanical design and analysis, preferably within aerospace, defense, or unmanned systems.

+ Familiarity with regulatory standards such as MIL‑STD (highly preferred).

+ Proficiency with CAD/PDM software (e.g., Solid Works, Autodesk) and experience with simulation tools (e.g., Solid Works Simulation).

+ Strong understanding of materials and manufacturing processes relevant to aerospace applications.

+ Hands‑on prototyping experience with knowledge of fabrication and manufacturing techniques.

+ Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a small‑business or start‑up environment.

+ U.S. National (Citizen, Naturalized, etc.).

+ Familiarity with ISO
9001 and AS9100 standards is highly desirable.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Brooklyn, NY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $100000.00/yr.

9/80 work weeks. Employees complete 80 hours of week in 9 days and have every other Friday off (three day weekend every other weekend) Company provides contractors with paid holidays (matching internal employee holidays) after 30 days Company is located near public transportation EOE/Disability/Veteran This position is onsite They offer a comprehensive benefit package including:
