The Department of Theater at Brooklyn College of the City University of New York (CUNY) seeks applications for a full-time tenure track Assistant Professor of Acting to start in August 2026.
FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENTThe ideal candidate will be a dedicated professional who will serve as Co-Head of Acting, working closely with current faculty to sustain and advance an integrated acting pedagogy across both undergraduate and graduate programs. This individual will teach acting courses; mentor and advise students on their projects and pre-professional goals; foster and connect students with professional opportunities in theater and media arts;
maintain professional creative practice in the field of acting and acting pedagogy; and contribute meaningful service to the department, the college, and the profession.
- Teach undergraduate and graduate acting courses in an area of acting specialization(s).
- Coordinate and manage contingent acting faculty in partnership with current faculty to ensure cohesive curriculum and support.
- Partner with co-head to oversee auditions and recruitment of acting students and applicants.
- Work with co-head to manage professional development and networking of the department’s acting students.
- Serve in the shared governance structure at all levels of the College.
- Provide student guidance, advisement, and mentoring in coordination with current faculty to ensure aligned pedagogical support.
- Continue to participate in professional performing arts activities within the area of expertise to fulfill tenure requirements.
