Position Summary

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Physician Assistant - Emergency Medicine - Full Time (Sunset Park, Brooklyn).

In this role, the successful candidate will provide care to patients in the Department and in subspecialties as needed. The Physician Assistant will follow established standards, procedures, and practices, and give specific patient care directions to nursing and other staff.

Job Responsibilities
  • Practices within the scope of delineated privileges.
  • Provide direct care to individuals and families consistent with the philosophy of Lutheran Medical Center and the departmental/institutional goals, including safety, well-being of patients and visitors, and maintenance of patient rights and confidentiality.
  • Provide diagnostic and assessment services to patients in the Department of Surgery using a problem-solving approach: obtain a detailed history and perform physical examinations; consider age, growth, and developmental stage; write appropriate orders; implement a therapeutic regime or protocol; monitor patient response; notify the attending physician of changes; consult specialists as needed.
  • Documentation of all patient encounters including assessment and progress notes, treatment rendered, patient teaching, follow-up, and referrals.
  • Maintain unit records, reports, and statistics for administrative and reimbursement purposes, including discharge summaries.
  • Evaluation and management of critical care patients.
  • Perform emergency life-saving procedures in the absence of a physician.
  • Participate in rounds with the attending staff and house staff on assigned patients.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals and families in patient admissions, care, and discharge transitions.
  • Provide preventive health services including counseling and teaching in health maintenance and problem-related areas.
  • Participate in Quality Improvement activities as needed and join committees as appropriate.
  • Attend departmental meetings and conferences.
  • Be on call during non-working hours to assist attendings in urgent or emergent situations/procedures.
  • Direct, instruct, and evaluate activities of P.A. and medical students as appropriate.
  • Engage in professional growth and maintenance of certification.
Minimum Qualifications

To qualify you must have a bachelor s or master s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program, 0-1 years of relevant experience, and current licensure as a Physician Assistant in New York. BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, and NALS, per privileges; DEA certificate required.

Required Licenses

Physician Assistant Lic-NYS, National Certification as a Physician Assistant

Salary and Benefits

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency. The salary range for the role is $-$ annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. This range does not include bonuses, incentive pay, or other forms of compensation.
