New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital was one of the first surgical teaching hospitals in the United States. Its Department of Surgery was founded by a pioneer surgeon, Lewis S. Pilcher, M.D., who also founded the Annals of Surgery. Advanced and Minimally Invasive Surgery at NYP Brooklyn Methodist continues a proud tradition. General Surgery PAs cover a range of specialties with work in areas including hepatobiliary and pancreatic diseases, upper gastrointestinal and small bowel disorders, gastric bypass, ERCP, vascular surgeries, Robotics cases, and a range of laparoscopic surgery.

Physician Assistant - General Surgery | Full-Time, Days

The general surgery PA is part of a comprehensive team covering surgical patients admitted to the hospital. PAs serve as front line providers rounding with surgical attendings, writing notes, orders, and performing necessary bedside procedures.

PAs cover general surgery Monday through Friday day shift only, with no night, weekend, or holiday coverage expected.

Preferred Criteria

• At least one year of experience in surgical or critical care medicine, open to strong new grad applicants.

Required Criteria

• Bachelors or Masters in Physician Assistant related studies
• NYS PA Licensure
• Current NCCPA Certification
• ACLS/BLS
• NYS Infection Control certification
• DEA Certification with NYS Opioid Prescriber training compliance

Please note that all roles require on-site presence (variable by role). Therefore, all employees should live within a commutable distance to NYP.
