Overview

Factioned is a design/build firm focused on interior design, architectural scale manufacturing, industrial design, and private client artwork conceptualization and development. Our projects encompass complete environments, large scale feature installations, custom lighting elements, sculptures, mechanical products, custom furniture, or any number of requests from our clients. We never shy away from a new design challenge.

We are a group of designers with varying backgrounds including architecture, interior design, industrial design, graphic design, photography, painting and sculpture. Our team has extensive custom fabrication and construction experience giving us the foresight to design executable projects. We simplify the means and methods of custom fabrication to allow a more straightforward design process.

We are seeking a Senior industrial designer who possesses a minimum of 7-10 years experience (post college) in design and project management. We provide a one-stop shop for our customers, and take on a wide array of projects, from designing small one-off residential fixtures, to developing and executing complex feature elements in the retail industry, to implementing our designs for full interior environments (mixed use developments, showrooms, pop-ups, art installations, etc.).

You will work directly with clients and be responsible for developing their visual requirements from the concept phase to final project execution. Furthermore, you will use your industrial design capabilities to assess projects with a strong focus on fabrication techniques, aesthetic and design features, and manufacturability (design/build).

Key responsibilities will include a strong intimacy with CAD, client interfacing, project management, quality control, scheduling and meeting deadlines, and interacting with multiple vendors. Problem solving and ability to apply practical judgment are required.

Responsibilities
  • Develop visual requirements from concept through final project execution in collaboration with clients.
  • Apply industrial design capabilities with a focus on fabrication techniques, aesthetics, design features, and manufacturability (design/build).
  • Maintain strong CAD proficiency and engage in client interfacing, project management, quality control, scheduling, and meeting deadlines.
  • Interact with multiple vendors and fabrication partners; coordinate across internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate problem solving and practical judgment in design and fabrication contexts.
  • Iterate quickly based on feedback, constraints, and testing; stay organized and capable in planning.
Qualifications
  • 7-10 years experience (post college) in industrial design, design/build, and project management.
  • College degree in Industrial Design or related design specialty required.
  • CAD capabilities in Fusion 360, Rhino, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), and Sketch Up. Additional program knowledge is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of 3D printers and their applications.
  • Mechanical aptitude. Knowledge of industrial and manufacturing processes, with comfort using hand and power tools (Table Saw, Compound Miter Saw, Planer, etc.).
  • Experience with a variety of materials (woods, metals, acrylics) and finishes; experience working with subcontractors and fabrication partners.
  • Project management experience across multiple projects and stakeholders (internal and external).
  • Advanced hand sketching and visualization capabilities.
  • Attention to detail with persistence and timely follow-through.
  • Organized and capable planner who can iterate quickly based on feedback and constraints.
  • Please note this position is intended to be full-time; the first 3 months will be on a trail basis.
Benefits
  • Competitive compensation ($95-$120k commensurate with experience) with performance-based bonuses.
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance 100% company paid.
