Nova Construction Services is a leading exterior building renovation contractor in New York City. Nova is seeking a Junior Staff Accountant to support accounting operations across multiple entities. The ideal candidate will assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, reconciliations, and project-related financial reporting.

This role requires strong attention to detail, accuracy, and excellent communication skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process and match vendor and subcontractor invoices with POs; enter into accounting systems.
  • Process vendor bills, maintain accurate records, and perform bank and credit card reconciliations.
  • Manage weekly payment schedules, issue payments, and resolve invoice discrepancies.
  • Verify expense coding, issue tax-exempt forms, and support AP reporting.
  • Upload invoices, payments, and supporting documentation to SharePoint.
  • Enter invoices and payments, deposit checks, and reconcile customer balances.
  • Prepare monthly payroll, payroll tax calculations, and quarterly filings.
  • Maintain payroll records and support related inquiries.
  • Track insurance policies, renewals, and required documentation to ensure active coverage.
  • Prepare financial schedules and documentation to support annual tax filings.
  • Coordinate with external accountants as needed.
  • Prepare monthly treasury reports and assist with cash flow monitoring.
  • Maintain organized digital records for vehicle registrations, insurance, inspections, and fuel/gas logs.
  • Ensure audit-ready compliance for all vehicle-related documentation.
Requirements
  • 1–3 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience, preferably in construction or related industries.
  • Strong knowledge of A/P, A/R, payroll, and reconciliation processes.
  • Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and time-management abilities.
