Senior Backend Engineer; Kotlin​/Micronaut

We are partnering with a leading enterprise in the retail and digital commerce industry to hire a Development Engineer who will support large-scale, high-traffic technology platforms. This role focuses on building and testing backend services using Kotlin and Micronaut while contributing to agile product teams that deliver high-impact features used across a nationwide customer base.

In this role, you will design, develop, and test code that supports key business objectives and aligns with the organization’s broader technology strategy. You will work hands‑on with Kotlin and Micronaut to build features from the product backlog, size user stories, and ensure all work meets acceptance criteria. Responsibilities include writing unit tests, creating automated test scripts, and performing all testing tasks required for high‑quality delivery.

You will collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams to ensure that released features meet business needs and technical standards. This position follows industry‑standard agile software design methodologies and requires frequent interaction with infrastructure, security, and other technical partners. Familiarity with enterprise‑scale infrastructure environments is a strong advantage.

• 5+ years of backend software engineering experience
• Hands‑on experience with Kotlin
• Hands‑on experience with Micronaut
• Experience building and testing code to support product features
• Ability to size user stories and work within an agile backlog
• Experience creating unit tests and automated test scripts
• Background participating in agile development
• Deep understanding of agile practices such as iterative development and user stories
• Experience collaborating with cross‑functional teams, including infrastructure and security

• Experience working within large enterprise infrastructure environments
• Familiarity with technology operations in retail, supply chain, or digital commerce industries
