As a Design Engineering Specialist in the Paving Team, you will collaborate closely with internal partners to craft and refine electrical installation systems for our paving products. Your work will directly impact the performance, durability, quality, and serviceability of our offerings, ensuring they exceed expectations.
Responsibilities- Drive New Product Introduction (NPI), New Technology Introduction (NTI), Continuous Process Improvement (CPI) and Cost Reduction initiatives for electrical installations and components in Asphalt Compactors.
- Collaborate with suppliers to develop and validate NPI components.
- Oversee design, development, and feasibility studies for complex engineering projects.
- Lead and actively participate in internal validation processes, overseeing builds, testing, and inspection of developmental hardware.
- Coordinate verification testing and simulations (FEA/CFD) locally and with supply chain partners.
- Manage internal validation, including builds, testing, and hardware inspection.
- Identify and resolve design and manufacturing issues to enhance product performance and efficiency.
- Mentor junior engineers, sharing best practices, coaching on technical skills, and helping them grow within the team.
- Champion the creation and adoption of common processes and design principles across Paving’s portfolio.
- Degree requirement:
Bachelor’s degree in an accredited Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related degree from an accredited institution. - Product Testing:
Knowledge of product testing approaches, techniques and tools; ability to design, plan and execute testing strategies and tactics to ensure product quality at all stages of manufacturing. - Troubleshooting Technical Problems:
Knowledge of troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, detect and resolve technical problems in a manufacturing or product development environment. - Decision Making and Critical Thinking:
Knowledge of the decision‑making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment. - Project Management:
Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.
- Demonstrated and progressive experience in developing engine electrical systems for off‑highway mobile machinery.
- Concurrent Product and NPI experience from the design role perspective.
- Electrical schematic and detailing experience using Creo.
- Experience releasing drawing packages using Teamcenter and Engineering Data System (EDS).
- Experience mentoring junior team members and coaching technical skills.
- Location:
Peoria, IL or Minneapolis, MN - Domestic relocation will be provided to Peoria, IL only to those who qualify.
- ISE assignments are not available.
- Visa sponsorship is not available.
- Travel: up to 15% domestically.
- This position requires 5 days per week in the office (Mon‑Fri).
