40-50 hours a week, 10-month contract

Salary Range: 42,500+
Responsibilities- The Special Education Teacher collaborates with teachers, educational assistants, service providers, IEP teams, the principal, and the Special Education Director to cultivate and sustain a culture of learning that meets the diverse needs of students, staff, and families.
- Develops effective parent, teacher, and student communications;
- Plans and facilitates highly-effective instruction, and adheres to due-process guidelines and timelines.
- Maintain due process compliance following all state and federal requirements and laws
- Instructs using research-based teaching strategies for students with disabilities
- Uses assessment data to drive the instructional cycle for students with disabilities
- Monitors learning and provides feedback to students
- Uses appropriate Special Education instructional materials and curriculum
- Analyzes assessment data and develops plans to respond to available data for students with disabilities
- Receives direction from the Special Education Director and Coordinator regarding due process and instruction
- Proactively engages in professional development opportunities
- Collaborates with general education teachers to meet the needs of students with disabilities
- Provides oversight and direction to paraprofessionals
- Participates in NMA’s Special Education team meetings, PLC meetings, and other staff meetings
- Conducts IEP meetings; listens and responds to parent concerns with sensitivity
- Follows and enforces school policies and cooperates with social service agencies
- Attends conferences, workshops, and meetings to learn current Special Education practices and educational trends
- Performs duties as assigned by the principal
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field required
- Current teaching licensure in Special Education required
