South Dakota State University is seeking a Plumbing Specialist to help keep our campus running strong. We’re looking for someone who takes pride in craftsmanship and problem‑solving. In this role, you’ll tackle a wide range of plumbing projects that help maintain safe, reliable facilities. Facilities and Services is the internal department overseeing the growth, maintenance, repair and changes of the facilities, infrastructure and grounds of campus and satellite locations. Campus Maintenance staff has technical expertise in electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, welding, mechanics, building repair work, relocation, and grounds. Services include the operation, maintenance, repair and remodeling of university buildings and grounds and the operation and repair of certain types of equipment.
This position is located in Brookings, South Dakota.

Job Responsibilities- Perform maintenance, repairs, and replacements of plumbing, heating, cooling, water, and sewer systems on campus and the local agricultural research stations.
- Complete remodel projects and new installations.
- Perform utility locates.
- Respond to building plumbing or utility system problems on a rotating on‑call basis.

Knowledge of:
- Plumbing code.
- Commercial plumbing systems, including service, repairs, & maintenance.
- New installations and remodel modifications.
- Functions of various plumbing, heating and cooling systems.
- Basic computer skills.
Skill & Ability to:
- Perform installation or modification of plumbing and heating systems.
- Install plumbing, cooling and heating products and equipment.
- Repair or replace plumbing, heating and cooling systems or components.
- Work in confined areas or from heights.
- Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Work in extreme temperatures.
- Communicate clearly.
- Respond to emergency/urgent issues after hours or on weekends.
- Work independently with minimal supervision.
- Work as a team player with a positive attitude.
Valid driver’s license;
South Dakota Journeyman’s Plumbing License.
