Salary Range: $16.00 to $19.00 Annually
Job SummaryReporting to the Parks Supervisor, a seasonal park maintenance worker is responsible for a diverse range of tasks, including landscaping, athletic field maintenance, trail construction and upkeep, construction and demolition, invasive weed removal, restoration and planting. The work is conducted outdoors and in various weather conditions.
Minimum Qualifications- Must be at least 18 years old and have a valid driver s license.
- Ability to perform heavy physical labor with weights up to 100 pounds.
- Ability to work on uneven slopes, surfaces, grades and terrain in inclement weather and other adverse conditions.
- Must be a United States citizen. This position does not support sponsorship.
- Previous experience in park maintenance.
- Previous experience in landscaping.
- Landscaping:
Performing landscaping activities to enhance the overall aesthetics of the park. - Trail Maintenance:
Maintaining trails within the park to provide safe and accessible pathways for visitors. - Assist with maintaining flower beds by picking weeds, watering plants, and keeping the area tidy.
- Help keep the park clean by picking up trash and ensuring the area looks neat and well-maintained.
- Construction and Demolition:
Engaging in construction projects and demolition tasks as required for park development or renovation. - Invasive Weed Removal:
Identifying and removing invasive plant species to preserve the ecological balance of the park. - Restoration and Planting:
Participating in restoration efforts and planting initiatives to enhance the natural environment and biodiversity of the park. - Perform other tasks as needed to support park maintenance and upkeep.
- Attend training, seminars and workshops as deemed necessary.
- Perform all duties in compliance with safety standards and policies established by the City.
- Perform other job-related duties as deemed necessary and additional duties, tasks, or responsibilities as assigned.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use of hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
- The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.
- The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Ability to use basic math skills.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to follow instructions, and be able to work independently and as a member of a team.
- Courteous and positive relationships with public and other employees.
- Ability to work with and provide exceptional customer service to the public.
