As a Metal Machine Operator, you will manufacture sheet metal assemblies and write frame structures for our LED display and audio products. You will operate metal punch, press brake, saw, CNC mill, and other computer‑controlled machines. You will follow written instructions and blueprints, perform basic math calculations, use precision measuring instruments, and inspect your own work to maintain quality and meet production targets.

- Primary shift: 4:30 pm – 3:00 am, Monday through Thursday. Overtime may be required as needed.
Brookings, South Dakota, in the HSPR department.
What will the work look like for me?- Manufacture sheet metal assemblies and welded extruded frames.
- Set up and operate metal punch, press brake, saw, CNC mill, and other computer‑controlled machines.
- Use air‑driven power tools and manual tools such as drills and riveting guns.
- Follow written instructions, blueprints, and basic math calculations.
- Inspect work in progress and complete tasks accurately and timely.
- Work effectively as a team member with little supervision and suggest process improvements.
- Maintain correct safety procedures and wear all required protective equipment.
- Perform other duties as needed to meet customer expectations.
- Program metal fabrication machines using automated equipment.
Starting Pay: $19.00 /hr + $3.00 /hr skill increment + $2.00 /hr shift increment.
Qualifications- High school diploma or GED required.
- Previous metal machine operation experience preferred.
- Good communication skills; ability to learn quickly.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliability and ability to work scheduled hours with overtime as needed.
- Wear all required protective equipment as per Daktronics Safety Policy and OSHA standards.
- Physical requirements:
distinguish color, read fine print, work with manufacturing odors, lift up to 50 lbs, stand or sit for shift, perform bending and lifting, maintain hand‑eye coordination, reach in all directions. - Valid driver’s license; ability to travel by air and ground; maintain qualified driver status.
- Fluent in English, written and verbal.
- Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
