The Data Governance Intern will partner with Data & Analytics leadership to create frameworks for both an enterprise metric library and a dashboard governance lifecycle program. Candidates will have the opportunity to engage with leaders across the enterprise to assess key business drivers, document data sources and automation opportunities, and develop methods to maintain analytics metadata moving forward, with an emphasis on how Artificial Intelligence can leverage this data to improve business decision making.
This intern will prepare for AI and natural language query capabilities by capturing metadata and encoding knowledge about key metrics and dashboard assets across the organization.
- Meeting with 10-20 representative operational leaders across the organization to understand KPIs, balancing measures, and sub metrics that drive business decisions
- Building POC framework for metric library and populate known data
- Assessing available tooling for housing a metric library and present findings to D&A leadership
- Assessing dashboard inventory (Qlik/Power BI, Epic, Workday, other tools) and use AI to enhance metadata on these assets
- Proposing and/or implementing improvements to metadata capture mechanisms to enhance governance capabilities;
May include build or enhancements to monitoring dashboards and alerting - Understanding existing practices and create/document lifecycle management program for dashboard governance
The Children's Summer Intern program allows interns the opportunity to gain hands‑on experience related to their field of study by working on meaningful projects alongside Children’s professionals. Intern responsibilities may include project management, event planning and support, logistics, data base management, research, and analysis. Interns may explore career paths and apply for full‑time positions upon successful completion of the program.
Experience- Research area: research experience necessary either through previous internship, work experience, or course work; practical knowledge about the conduct of research principals required
- Computer Science, Engineering, or Business degree candidate
- Strong Excel and data skills; SQL and/or Python preferred
- Strong communication skills
- College student with at least two years in a health sciences related program, such as pre‑med, nursing, biomedical engineering, biology, chemistry, or statistics, or post graduate student working toward a Master’s of Science in public health or medical degree
- College or graduate student that is currently working towards a Bachelor or Master’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Business, Marketing, Healthcare Administration or other related field, required
- No professional certifications required
- Organized, detail oriented;

Able to make decisions independently - Strong verbal and written communication skills;
Strong interpersonal and presentation skills - Able to work well with diverse groups, comfortable interacting with all levels
- Able to represent Children’s in a mature and professional manner
- Willing to work long hours that could include evenings and weekends, if applicable to internship
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Power Point, Access, Outlook) or other applications as required
- Able to travel throughout expanded metro Atlanta area;
