Underground Equipment Operator

UNDERGROUND EQUIPMENT OPERATOR

Operates and maintains assorted underground construction equipment and vehicles in the transportation, placement, maintenance, support, and removal of assorted communication cable facilities.

• Read and interpret facility blueprints and follow job specifications.
• Perform daily equipment maintenance and communicate with the company’s full‑time mechanic and crew foreman or supervisor.
• Maintain vehicle maintenance reports (gas, oil, tire pressure, lights, etc.).
• Manage company tools and materials loaded on the vehicle, and assist the foreman in preparation of the day’s activities.
• Follow all standard manhole, trench, and boring safety procedures.
• Operate all underground equipment properly, productively, and safely (vibratory plow, trencher, backhoe, directional boring machine, and related vehicles and trailers).
• Possess ability to perform laborer responsibilities for an underground crew.

• High School/GED.
• Class A CDL is encouraged but not required.
