HX5 is currently seeking a senior‑level systems engineer for a part‑time position to join our team in support of the GEARS contract at NASA Glenn Research Center.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe selected candidate will support the planning and execution of launch site operations for the Power and Propulsion Element (PPE) for Gateway. To effectively facilitate launch vehicle integration, this requires on‑site location and daily coordination with the launch service provider and the launch site processor at NASA Kennedy Space Center (KSC). In addition there will be collaboration with internal and external contractors that are members of the launch team at NASA KSC, which are required to prepare the co‑manifested vehicle for launch.
Primarily, the selected candidate will be responsible for the following:
- Serve as the primary contact for the PPE SE&I team to manage integration between the space vehicle and the launch vehicle.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define details of the Interface Control Document (ICD) and Launch System Support Plan (LSSP).
This effort is monitored by the Science and Space Technology Systems Branch at NASA GRC, which provides leadership in systems engineering (SE) to enable science and space technology programs and projects.
Required Skills- Experience with launch vehicle design
- Experience with launch site operations
- Experience with integrated mission analyses such as: CLA, ITA, Mission Design
- Experience with NASA SE processes
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Highly motivated and able to work independently
- Experience working with NASA
- Committed to successful collaboration with the NASA team and partners
- Knowledge of systems engineering for large spacecraft
- Knowledge of system‑level and subsystem‑level integration for large spacecraft
Completed at least a bachelor of science degree in a STEM‑related major, from an accredited program, with the following education and experience:
- Bachelor’s degree with 20 plus years of experience
- Masters’s degree with 15 plus years of experience
- Ph.
D. with ten plus years of experience
Position Requirements
