The Classroom Instructor provides special education for students in the high-school classroom to fulfill their academic, emotional, and social growth. Instruction is based on the core curriculum standards for the State of Ohio and curriculum is designed to meet the unique needs of each student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP).
Job Responsibilities- Establish andmaintaina classroom environment that is conducive to learning and child development
- Create and adapt the curriculum as mandated by the student’s IEP, individual student academic level, and graduation requirements
- Develop lesson plans that employ a variety of instructional techniques and media to meet the needs and capabilities of each student
- Design, implement, and track progress of interventions for academic and behavioral goals
- Maintainaccurateclassroom records, including grades, attendance, and behavioral records
- In conjunction with the Academic Coordinator,assistin developing appropriate student
IEPs with measurable and obtainable goals based on data provided through the Multi-Factored Evaluation (MFE) and/or Evaluation Team Report (ETR) - Assess student progress through tests, projects, observations, and/or portfolios
- Integrate Attachment & Attunement theory and methods into the program
- Advocate for clients and coordinate required services or resolve emergency problems in crisis situations
- Reward and encourage clientsin accordance withthe agency’s policy of Unconditional Positive Regard
- Complete incident reporting in a timely mannerand according to agency policy
- Initiate andfacilitatecommunication with parents, teammembersand outside agencies where appropriate, in a professional manner
- Maintain confidentiality of all client information and records
- Organize and lead structured program of group interactions
- Comply withall Agency policies and procedures, including CARF
- Other duties as assigned

- Bachelor'sdegree;
Degree in Education preferred - Must hold a Sub License
- Knowledge of teaching methods, curriculum, testing, and IEPs
- Knowledge of State of Ohio standards thatare applicable to special education

At Education Alternatives, Intervention Specialist compensation is based on years of relevant experience and educational credentials. Placement on the salary scale considers prior teaching or related service experience, degree level (Bachelor’s, Master’s, or advanced coursework), and appropriate Ohio licensure. Additional certifications or specialized qualifications may also influence starting salary and overall compensation.
