Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Interventional Radiology position requiring a NY RN license, with proficiency in IV starts and specialized certifications.
Responsibilities- Work in an acute care setting on the Interventional Radiology (IR) unit
- Trauma Level 2 hospital environment
- 12-hour night shifts with start times at 7:00 p.m.
- Assignment includes three IR suites/labs; may also assist in Cath Lab for vascular procedures
- Average 5-8 IR procedures and about 50 CT prep/IV starts daily for both adult and pediatric patients
- Common procedures include biopsies, vascular embolizations, thrombectomies, drains, pain management injections, and line placements
- Uses Allscripts EMR system for documentation
- No floating except for IR-specific cases in Cath Lab
- No weekend or call requirements; holidays covered by permanent staff
- Provide nursing care throughout all phases of IR procedures, including pre, intra, and post-procedure management
- Perform patient assessment, IV insertion, CT preparation, and patient monitoring
- Collaborate with physicians, mid-levels, and multidisciplinary IR team members
- Electronic and paper charting required based on procedure and modality
- Unit-specific orientation covers three shifts with additional support as assessed by manager
- Royal blue scrubs required; surgical scrubs or disposables permitted in Cath Lab
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Active NY RN license required
- Minimum 1 year of Interventional Radiology nursing experience
- Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required (PALS mandatory, pediatric experience not required)
- Proficiency in IV starts is necessary
- Critical care exposure or experience is a plus
- Familiarity with Allscripts EMR preferred
