Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a 13-week Interventional Radiology assignment requiring a current NY RN license and PALS, BLS, and ACLS certifications.
Responsibilities- Position is in an acute care hospital setting in the Interventional Radiology (IR) unit
- Unit consists of 1 IR suite with access to a Cath Lab for vascular procedures
- Typical caseload includes 5-8 IR procedures per day and CT prep/IV starts for approximately 50 patients daily
- Covers both adult and pediatric patients for sedation and IV starts
- Shift is 12 hours overnight with start times at 7:00 p.m.
- No on-call or weekend call required, permanent staff cover holidays
- Floats only to Cath Lab for IR-specific cases and to CT/MRI areas as needed
- Uses Allscripts EMR for documentation
- Provides patient care in all phases of IR procedures, including pre, intra, and post-procedure management
- Performs assessments, charting, and IV insertions
- Works closely with physicians, mid-levels, charge nurse, and IR techs for coordinated patient care
- Unit typically staffs 7 RNs and support personnel including CST and IR techs
- Unit-specific orientation typically includes 3 shifts, with additional support as needed
- Royal blue scrubs required for IR; surgical scrubs or disposables when working in Cath Lab
- Flexible scheduling with no guarantee of block scheduling; excessive call-ins may result in termination
- Open to first time travelers
- Active NY RN license required
- Minimum 1 year of Interventional Radiology experience
- Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, and PALS (PALS required, pediatric experience not necessary)
- Proficiency with IV starts is required
- Critical care exposure/experience is preferred but not mandatory
- EMR experience with Allscripts preferred
