Attorney​/Lawyer

Description We are looking for a dedicated Attorney to provide legal support to low-income tenants facing eviction in Bronx Housing Court and related hearings. This role involves managing cases, advocating for clients, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure housing stability.

Responsibilities:

- Represent tenants in eviction proceedings, including non-payment and holdover cases.

- Advocate for clients in Bronx Housing Court and during termination hearings.

- Prepare motions, legal documents, and orders to show cause with precision and attention to detail.

- Lead community outreach initiatives and deliver workshops on housing law.

- Partner with caseworkers, paralegals, and team members to address client needs.

- Maintain accurate case records and uphold strict confidentiality standards.

- Participate in a structured four-week training program to enhance legal practice skills. Requirements - Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

- Admission to the New York State Bar is mandatory.

- Minimum of one year of legal experience, with two or more years preferred.

- Familiarity with housing law and public benefits in New York.

- Proven ability to manage a high-volume caseload efficiently.

- Strong skills in legal writing, communication, and organization.

- Spanish language proficiency is preferred but not required.
