Human Resources Manager

A well-established wholesale food distribution company located in the Bronx is seeking a hands-on HR Manager to lead day-to-day People Operations. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, operationally driven environment, enjoys working closely with frontline teams, and wants a high-impact leadership position with direct collaboration alongside executive leadership.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage daily HR operations across a 150+ employee organization
• Drive recruitment efforts focused on blue-collar workforce hiring
• Oversee onboarding, offboarding, and retention initiatives
• Manage full-cycle benefits administration (medical, supplemental, 401k, PTO)
• Oversee Workers' Compensation claims and OSHA compliance/reporting
• Maintain and update employee handbook and HR policies
• Manage unemployment claims and represent the organization when needed
• Interface with organized labor (union experience preferred)
• Lead safety training and occupational compliance programs
• Serve as primary point of contact for employee relations matters

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree required
• 6+ years of progressive HR Generalist / HR Management experience
• Strong knowledge of NYS Workers' Compensation, OSHA, HIPAA, FMLA, and federal/state labor laws
• Ability to work independently without micromanagement
• Experience in a unionized environment preferred
