DEMOCRATIC SERVICES OFFICER

Bromsgrove District Council

Grade 7 £ 36,363 - £40,777 (SCP 25 - 30)

Full-time permanent position

37 hours per week

Situated in North Worcestershire, Bromsgrove District Council and Redditch Borough Council share services. We are looking for an enthusiastic Democratic Services Officer to work as part of a supportive shared Democratic Service for Redditch Borough and Bromsgrove District Councils.

The Democratic Services team provides a professional service to elected Councillors. Prior experience in Democratic Services is not essential, but you will need to be organised, have good communication and team working skills and a flexible attitude. Availability to attend evening meetings will be essential as will an ability to use video conferencing software such as Microsoft Teams.

Your main duties will be facilitating the regulatory committees in Bromsgrove, the Planning Committee and Licensing Committee (including Licensing Sub-Committee hearings) and providing support to the regulatory committees in Redditch as and when required. You will be required to take minutes, compile agenda packs and on occasion to write reports. We hold a number of informal meetings remotely and you will need to be able to organise and facilitate these meetings virtually.

Therefore, you must have excellent IT skills and an ability to learn how to use the modern.gov committee management system.

Interviews will be held in early March 2026. Successful applicants will be required to deliver a presentation at the interview and to complete a comprehension test.
