Blackroom Operator

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Reports To: Millroom Supervisor
Location: As Assigned (Broken Arrow, OK)

The Blackroom Operator prepares and mixes raw materials into batches for transfer to the millroom. This role requires following job travelers, picklists, and other documentation to ensure materials meet specifications. The operator must be able to work independently and collaborate effectively with team members.

Under the direction of the Millroom Supervisor and/or Blackroom Lead, the Blackroom Operator:

Reads and interprets job travelers and picklists to determine material specifications and mixing instructions.

Monitors internal mixer operations and adjusts controls to ensure materials meet required tolerances and weight specifications.

Assists in the millroom as needed by operating machinery, feeding materials into rollers, and adding components until the correct consistency is achieved.

Applies Safety Data Sheet (SDS) labels to all ingredients.

Transfers materials to the appropriate locations.

Unloads trucks using a forklift.

Completes transfer paperwork and accurately enters data into the Epicor MRP system.

Follows First-In/First-Out (FIFO) inventory procedures.

Performs other duties as assigned by the Supervisor, Lead, or Plant Manager.

Ability to read, understand, and communicate clearly in English.

Ability to operate a forklift or obtain forklift certification within 90 days of hire.

Basic math skills, including the ability to read mixing charts, formulas, and compounding requirements.

At least 3 years of experience working with heavy machinery preferred.
