The annual salary for this position is based on education and experience, Level II: up to $65,000.00;
Level III up to $75,000.00

The Clinical Health Facility Surveyor Trainer is responsible for the training and professional development of OSDH staff in various topics or skills concerning regulatory surveys and compliance. This includes the preparation and tracking of staff training, scheduling and coordinating various workshops, classes, or seminars, conducting training in a variety of settings and/or facilitating a variety of meetings or seminars. The role also involves observing and assisting in the training of staff who conduct technical licensure, certification surveys, and complaint investigations for a variety of health facilities.
PositionResponsibilities / Essential Functions
- Apply knowledge of professional standards of practice to provide instruction and consultation for surveyors, enabling them to observe, analyze, and evaluate nursing, dietary, social, laboratory, pharmaceutical, respiratory, speech, physical and occupational therapy services for adherence to professional standards.
- Prepare or collect information and materials for training, meetings, or seminars, including lesson plans, training guides, participant manuals, videos, slides and other materials.
- Determine employee training and professional development needs through observation, surveys, interviews, or other sources; review and analyze special requests for training courses and professional development.
- Schedule and coordinate training classes, workshops, seminars, conferences or meetings.
- Educate staff in survey sampling methodology and interview techniques for residents/patients/clients, family members, facility personnel, and others.
- Educate staff in evaluating health facility administration to determine policy and procedure compliance with federal and state statutes and regulations.
- Educate staff in completing required forms and reports detailing deficiencies noted during facility surveys.
- Observe and assist in training of staff conducting technical licensure, certification surveys, complaint investigations, and provide consultative and technical assistance regarding professional standards and compliance.
- Investigate allegations, determine abuse or neglect, and make decisions regarding immediate jeopardy or actual harm.
