Position Description

Under general supervision, enhances, expands, and maintains the City’s Geographic Information System (GIS).

Essential Job Functions
  • Performs data conversions between various spatial data formats (GIS, CAD, etc).
  • Convert maps, plats, plans, surveys, and other documents into GIS data.
  • Prepares, updates, and maintains data, maps, charts, graphics, reports, and other documents.
  • Edits and maintains GIS data using ESRI software to ensure quality, completeness, and accuracy of information.
  • Designs and develops GIS Databases for projects through collaboration with project stakeholders.
  • Prepares and publishes GIS services to ArcGIS Server for use in ArcGIS Online and Portal.
  • Builds, configures, and deploys Maps and Map Applications in ArcGIS Online and Portal.
  • Configures and maintains GPS and related equipment.
  • Performs GPS field data collection.
  • Work with 3rd party vendors to provide support for GIS, and GIS related projects, for various departments throughout the city.
  • Troubleshoots problems with GIS and related software, applications, tools, and data.
  • Provide GIS and general technology support for non-technical internal staff.
  • Stays current with the latest developments in GIS, and related fields.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience

Must possess a bachelor's degree in Geographic Information Science, or a related field, and a minimum of one (1) year of related experience in GIS, or a minimum of five (5) years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience relevant to the position. GISP Certification preferred. Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid Oklahoma Class D Driver's License.

Physical Requirements

Tasks involve the ability to work outdoors occasionally and possibly negotiate rough terrain. Exerting moderate physical effort in medium work, typically involving some combination of lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (up to 30 pounds). Tasks may also involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation.
