This position is located in the Washita County Extension Office, Cordell, OK. Position provides leadership to family and consumer sciences (FCS) and supports the 4‑H youth development programs with approximately 50% of time spent in FCS and 50% of time spent in 4‑H youth development work. Participates as a cohesive OSU Extension team member to involve local clientele and advisory groups to plan, implement, and evaluate the total county program.

Due to communication expectations of the position, the incumbent will be required to maintain cellular or other electronic communication device. The incumbent’s salary includes compensation to apply toward the use of their personal cellular device.

Extension educators comply with all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines, etc., related to equal opportunity, civil rights, and affirmative action. Extension educators are hired into the organization not into a specific geographic location. It is possible that future circumstances may require relocation.

Base annual salary for entry level educators who have a bachelor's degree is $44,000 and a master's degree $50,000. Starting salary is based upon education and prior relevant work experience. Extension educators hired with only a bachelor’s degree are encouraged to work toward completion of an approved master’s degree.

Continuation of employment is based upon need, performance and available county funding.

• Bachelor's in Family and Consumer Sciences, public health, or similar health‑related field is required. For candidates without a degree in FCS, must be able to successfully obtain the noted certifications within two years of employment: (certification expenses not covered by employer)
• No FCS or Education Degree:
  Take two approved education courses (Pedagogy & Classroom Management). Within two years, must pass APK and FCS OSAT.
• No FCS Degree, but an Education Degree:
  Provide proof of passing PPAT or APK.
• No FCS Degree, but alternatively certified in FCS and three years teaching:
  No special requirements.
• Certifications, Registrations, and/or Licenses:
  Valid driver’s license required. Reliable transportation for travel connected with official duties. Reimbursement for official travel.
• Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:
  Demonstrated ability to listen and communicate effectively, and to foster a professional image of OSU Extension by displaying a positive view of the organization both internally and externally.
