Responsibilities- Supervise all Patient Access and Patient Registration functions. Ensure patient greeting, ED and Imaging registrations, admissions, pre-registration and discharge processes run timely and efficiently.
- Oversee staff assignments to ensure adequate coverage for all areas. Oversee and perform quality assurance and downtime work as assigned.
- Train new hires and existing staff on existing and new processes and protocols. Ensure smooth workload transition from day to night shift personnel.
- Collaborate with Patient Access Coordinators to attain shared goals.
- Communicate regularly with subordinates, Financial Coordinators, Patient Access Manager, and other clinical staff to address identified issues, concerns, and opportunities to improve the patient care experience.
- Oversee scheduling, training, workflow, staff assignments, and coverage for all Patient Registration staff members.
- Identify operational issues and patient safety concerns; raise them to the Manager and work to resolve.
- Support execution of performance improvement initiatives within the department or with other hospital departments.
- Assist in resolving patient concerns and ensure policies and procedures are followed by personnel.
- Act in the capacity of Manager in their absence and inform the Manager of all issues upon return.
- Attend in-service presentations and complete mandatory education weeks, including infection control, patient safety, and quality improvements.
- Provide input to Manager on staff evaluations.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent and 2+ years of Patient Access experience in a hospital setting, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Prior supervisory experience preferred.
- Ability to oversee employees.
- Knowledgeable with Meditech, Epic, Outlook, Microsoft Office.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Strong collaboration skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- On-call 24 hour/7 day week coverage required; rotates with Patient Access Manager.
